The CACT Tech-Explorer projects were developed by Sierra College to bring integrated curriculum to:
- Bring applied academics to middle and high school classes
- Use project-based learning to make academic concepts meaningful
- Promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (SETM) careers

PROJECT
- The grant-funded pilot project brings a “shop-in-a-box” to school sites.
- Students use power and hand tools to produce parts and assemble catapults.
- Teachers do follow-up classroom projects (see integrated curriculum database)
- Students explore design, engineering and production careers.

PROGRESS
There are now manual, electric, solar and electronic versions. Some schools have their own tools and are building catapults. Other CACT offices are offering this project.
